Papua New Guiena: Christmas

We arrived to Port Morsby, the Capital of Papua New Guinea (PNG) without any problem. But our flight to Goroka was canceled so the airline put us up in a 4 Star hotel with food! Although we were sad we didn't get there it was nice staying at such a nice place and eating so well.

The next day, Christmas Eve, we hoped and prayed that our flight would not be delayed or canceled again. Thank God that it was only 30 minutes late so we made it to Goroka before noon on Christmas Eve. When we arrived Coralee's sister, Michelle & Lyle were there with their kids waving hi from behind the gates. It was really great to see familiar faces, especially family on Christmas!

We had a Wyton traditional Christmas Eve dinner with home made Taquitos (they were really like Flautas) and they were so amazing. We had fudge and other goodies and opened up tons of gifts. It was really fun.

Well today, on Christmas, we opened up more gifts and went over to Mike & Melanie's house, Coralee's other sister, for the Christmas meal. Before eating Lyle & I went Dirt Bike/ATV riding with others from the ITF base up to a look out point, then to a river and a few other places before coming back. It was really a blast! We had Turkey with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans & stuffing. It was really nice. Then after our tour of ITF we had Pumpkin Pie with Whip Cream & Apple Pie too. Well it has been a great Christmas and we hope that you, our friends and family, have had a great Christmas too. (Actually yours is just beginning because although it's 9 pm here it's 7 am Christmas Morning back on the East Coast of the US!)
