Kenya: CCP

We came back to Kenya for a week to see what CCV is doing here up close. CCV's ministry here is actually called CCP (Chosen Children of Promise)We have been visiting the sponsored children in the slums.

We have also been able to see the community center in the slum where they educate the sponsored kids who are behind in school. This is a picture of Kenyan porridge that the kids eat every morning at the community center. Its actually very nutritious but it isn't very tasty. The community center is also used to do Awana and GNC (Good News Club). We were able to see that and help out as well.

Marissa & Jim have been great at showing us around and helping us learn about the program. They also set us up with an amazing Kenyan family who are also board members of CCP. Ben and Janet were amazing. They took such good care of us like we were royalty. They also taught us a lot about Kenyan culture where Women do all the serving at home and the Men just relax!

We leave for Tanzania tomorrow. We are taking busses down to Mozambique and after a few 5-24 hour bus rides we should be there in about a week. Please pray for us as we cross the River into Mozambique because we may have to wade through part of the river and if the ferry isn't running we will have to take canoes too!!! It is bound to be an adventure. All we ask is that God allow us to get there in one piece.
