Dear Friends & Family,
We hope that you are all doing well as summer approaches. We are enjoying warmer weather as we are sure you are also.
Many of you know that we were both challenged for missions during high school. For the last 2 years we have been waiting on the Lords timing and direction for us to go into missions. Over the last several months the Lord has begun to bring both clarity and direction to us and we would like to share our journey with you.
During a visit to Mozambique in 2006 the Lord gripped our hearts for to reach the lost in Africa. There are actually 16 different language groups in Mozambique with 30,000 to 100,000 people in each language group.
While we were in Africa we were able to spend 1 month with a missionary team working in Mozambique. We were privileged to visit a tribal location they were working in. They are working to learn the tribal languages while they live among the people. The goal is to learn the language and culture, present the gospel, plant a church, make disciples who will go and reach the rest of their tribe and lastly to leave a translation of the New Testament in their tribal Language. Currently there are missionaries working in 3 of the 16 tribes. There is still a huge need for missionaries to go and reach the other 13 tribes so that they will have a chance to hear the gospel message for the first time.
We believe this is what the Lord is leading us to become apart of. We are excited as we begin to move forward but we also recognize there is a lot that needs to be done in order to get us there.
Getting There:
In order for missionaries to serve in Moz they must first go through one and a half years of missionary training.
This training is vital for the missionaries success on the field. The training teaches missionaries how to: learn a language that has never been written down, to live self-sufficiently in an isolated location, to plant a church and do Bible teaching, gives in basic medical training as well as many other important tools that are needed on the mission field.
Currently, we are praying about entering training this August 2009. In order to do this we must take care of things here in TN as well as raise funds for attending the training. We own a house we are planning to rent while we are away, we will also need to downsize significantly and we will need to raise approximately $35,000 to attend the training and pay for living expenses. We value your prayers as we make this transition.
Until all have heard,
Jason & Coralee
